| Get a wriggle on! | Re: HOW TO: Change a clutch on a cinquecento sporting 1.1 OHC engine fantastic guide there one thing that may be a tip, is the shaft that the thrust bearing slides on to, put some high temp grease on it, this will make the bearing slide much better giving in turn a smoother feel whel pressing the clutch pedal down

| Cinq Sp | Brilliant Guide! Couple of questions.. 1 What do you do with the drivers side driveshaft? Do you just remove the boot gaiter clip and let the shaft slide out of the cv joint as the gearbox is removed? 2 Do the gearchange cables just pull off? what did you use to do this? Vic

, but just undo the gaiter clip and the gearbox along with the cv joint will slide away from the driveshaft.2. there is a bracket which guides one of the cables which is held on by three bolts. at the end of the cables there are balljoints, just lever these off with a screwdriver... they just pop off.

| Re: HOW TO: Change a clutch on a cinquecento sporting 1.1 OHC engine it will either be a problem with you linkage, or the box itself. check the linkages just under the gearstick aswell. does it feel stiff moving to reverse and 5th? or does it feel okay but just wont go in ? or does it slide into reverse gear, and no drive ???

| Re: HOW TO: Change a clutch on a cinquecento sporting 1.1 OHC engine The gearstick goes into reverse position put is picking up forward drive to the wheels not reverse. Regards Rob

| Re: HOW TO: Change a clutch on a cinquecento sporting 1.1 OHC engine this may sound silly (but i really have no other awnsers) there are two gear linkages.. you are sure you have them the right way round ?? tbh, you may be better off posting this in the cinquecento/seicento section, as youll have loads of people (who actually know what there talking about ) helping you, instead of just me =]

| Get a wriggle on! | Re: HOW TO: Change a clutch on a cinquecento sporting 1.1 OHC engine Just prior to removal of the gear link cables, dab some tipex onto one of them, and its operating lever on the gearbox, then you know when refitting what goes where.

| Re: HOW TO: Change a clutch on a cinquecento sporting 1.1 OHC engine theoreticaly, it should be impossable to switch them over... one goes through a massive bracket.. which clearly bolts on the back.. hence that one being the back selector cable and not the reverse one at the front of the box.....

| Cinq Sp | I am in the middle of this job at the moment. All went well until trying to get the gearbox reconnected to the engine. It just won't go! was trying for four hours this afternoon and so far have not been able to get the spline to slide back into the clutch plate ![]() I even used a proper alignment tool before refitting the pressure plate and clutch. Oh boy, is that gearbox heavy! my arms so ache tonight ![]() Any tips on how I can get the damned thing back on? there is simply no play in the gearbox spline. An interesting fault with the clutch that I have removed, the clutch was binding and there was judder. Two of the springs in the clutch plate had broken. I'll post up some pics when my arms dont ache so much! Vic

| Get a wriggle on! | Re: HOW TO: Change a clutch on a cinquecento sporting 1.1 OHC engine Is the release bearing in the way/not fitted properly? Think I will be getting my clutch next week, then plan for some dryer weather to sort it

| Re: HOW TO: Change a clutch on a cinquecento sporting 1.1 OHC engine it is difficult to get it back on, support it on a jack, and try to slide it in. and remember that it may not go in completly plum. you may have to twist it abit to get the splines to line up, and then once its on, twist it back to line up the holes for the bolts on the bellhousing. funnily enough, it took me aq whole day to get the gearbox out.... and about 2 minutes to get it back in lol
