My guess would be no, the car doesnt feel different and its intermittant.

The car starts perfect even after the light has come on.

It should be going for its annual diagnostic test soon, so I should find out whats wrong then, but would like to now:)

I been playing around with the battery cause of my air horns, could this effect it

yeah, when i disconnected the battery I had to start it with the Red key. Disconnecting the battery just resets the ECU and the red key sorts the little fella out

i didnt really disconnect the battery just loosened the nuts on it to slip anotehr wire in there

i aint got a red key cause its built into my key, its the one with the triangle and 2 engraved on it.

i thought if i didnt have a red key the car wouldnt start at all

no i dont think so, just comes on randomly, start the car its on, stays on until i turn engine off.

it doesnt come on when im driving, not that I no off. If its on its from the start.

its stumped me cause i thought the car wouldnt work if it came on.

its booked for a week wed for the fiat guy to have a look at it, hopefully if there is a problem it will last out till then

PETE: Was u taking the pee on your last post, cause u rite it comes on when i give my horns a good toot:D

Any idea what can be causing this, the live feed is connected to the top of the battery, in the place with the 2 extra bolts, it looks like they belong or have something to do with the computer bits on my car.

Should i just connect it direct to the battery terminal (big bolt), or wouldnt this make a difference

cheers

gaz

well, actually I wasn't but never mind.:I

Problem could be a 'flash' from the relay coil for your horns. If this is it, you can fix it for about 5p. Connect a diode from the pos to the neg terminals on the relay - coil side. Make sure it's in the right way - the pos of the diode (anode) to the earth terminal and neg of the diode (cathode) to the pos terminal. This sounds silly, but what happens is when you let go of the horn button the relay coil has a reaction and creates a voltage spike which can interfere with electrical equipment.

Depending how you've wired it up, you may be doubling your trouble as the sei already has one horn relay under the dash.

Can do a diagram and send it if you like, might be clearer.

Gaz, I had problems with my horn and alarm: whenever I blasted the horn at anyone (common in my area as not many people understand the basics of driving around here, especially that bloke in the red Marea estate this morning) it would lock then unlock the doors. Traced the problem to exactly this fault, remedied as in this pic:

Mine has a diode on the original Fiat horn relay (outlined in red above) now, but the problem could also be caused by the horn unit itself. Might also be linked into the fact that the horn is earthed in the same place as the ecu.
The voltage flash that occurs is almost the same as how the ignition coils on your car work, and that's strong enough to produce 20,000 volts.

thanks pete:), will try this later, i hope my amazing electrical skills can cope with it, as some people know I havent had the best of luck with the electrics in my car:D

I still cant understand why it wont work if its connected to the 12v original horn wire, it would make it alot easier if this was possible.

Touch wood, the light hasnt come on again when i've been pushing my horn, must just be intermittant.

Thanks once again pete
