Engine swap

Hey all,

Just ordered my 1242 punto 75 engine! Wondering if I NEED some sort of trolly to remove the old engine and move the new one in place or if anyone can suggest a way around it?

Cheers
Rich

Re: Engine swap

I did a swap by lifting the car away from the engine rather than lift the engine into the car.

Cheers

Re: Engine swap

So I take it you removed the engine up out of the engine bay rather than droping it down.

Cheers

Re: Engine swap

sounds like rally cinq disconnect the engine and hoisted the car up so th engine came out easily.

best way is lifting the car up and placing it underneath and hoisting it from there (in my opinion)

Re: Engine swap

No No, I supported the car on axle stands and undid all the ancilliaries. Once they were all off, I lowered the front of the car until the engine was resting on a small pallet on the ground.

I then undid the three mounting bolts and jacked up the body leaving the engine, and box, on the pallet. It was then simple to pull the pallet forward out of the way to split the donk 'n' box.

Cheers

Re: Engine swap

Oh right. Ive decided to plonk it on a piece of plywood and drag it out. Simple enough.

Cheers for the advice!

Re: Engine swap

I think you'll need to raise the sheet of wood off the ground to support the engine to allow enough slack to get the mounts undone.

Cheers

didnt i say that lol must be the way i explain things

engine hoist makes things easy, especially if it is a tripod one as you can lift the whole front end with it

let us know how you get on with it
