Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo??

If you're not doing it yourself, it can cost many times the amount you mention to fit an engine which wasn't designed for the car. £1500 should get you a nicely tuned 1242 fitted in.

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo??

just go for the 1.4 turbo from an uno turbo. you wont get anything bigger than that In.. trust me.. ive seen Teressas engine bay and you wont get anything else in its a miricle she managed that tbh!

ad i seriously doubt you will ever need anything quicker than that in a sei

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo??

have u seen the size of your engine bay???

You have to think about the size of the bay rather than the engine size itself!

Theresas cinq with the 1.4 turbo unit is currently at approx 120bhp, which is bloody chuffing fast!! But that has had, time, money, and a whole lot of dedication for it to be at the stage it is in now!

If your thinking of doing the turbo conversion, id be prepared for a lot of graft, and dwindling funds if theresas is anything to go by! The results can be amazing, but it isnt gona be a case of puttin engine in and away you go!

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo??

You gotta think about the weight of your car aswell they weigh next to nothing about 750kg! If you do work on a uno turbo you can easily get 150bhp out of them even you could even get a hybrid turbo on it

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo??

..surely a Cento with over 150bhp would be... A) Very very costly to get that power figure B) Not the most reliable thing going C) Undrivable with the power it would have, a proper scary experience lol

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo??

If you have £1500 to spend, sell your sei and get a car which was designed to handle 150 bhp!

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo??

my mates corsa is scary to drive, but not if driven safly.. thats over 320 bhp, but its really mod'ed.... 2litre novas are the worst cars lol, couldnt see a sei being too scary, aslong as you stick to 5mph around corners lol

Re: Renault 5 GT Turbo??

If you want that sort of speed then you dont want a sei.

why buy a slow car if you want a fast car? if you know what your doing then fair enough as you can do conversions yourself and make it a hobby etc but why spend thousands and thousands getting a garage to do it when you can spend less just gettign a car that comes with the power and can handle it etc.
