Fiat £60 diagnostic check - is it worth the money?

With all these engine hesitation problems I'm having I'm starting to think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and pay for a £50 + VAT diagnostic check at my local Fiat garage (the only one within 50 miles!). Has anybody got any experience of these checks? Is it worth the money?

Try mobile mechanics, those which advertise diagnostic stuff. Got a bloke to come and read me the fault codes for £25.

Yep. Mine was a dodgy connection on the air temp sensor (ever wondered why I'm so sure the ebay resistor mods don't work? )

It had also stored faults from all the other things I'd unplugged! He had to wipe the memory and start over again.

Sounds like it's off to Fiat I go then. Ah well, lets just hope I can get this problem sorted and start actually enjoying this car!
By the way, when I phoned up they said that they would only do the checks in the morning "in case the car has to be taken off the road" (their words). I assume they have no legal right to refuse to allow me to take my car home?

£50!! Bit steep!!
My local Fiat dealer quoted me £60 odd but my local garage did it for half that.

Ask them for the copies of the printout which will have any faults on it as proof.
