a lovely smell! NOT!

I left work late last night and toed it down a nearby dual carridgeway with a mate from work. I floored the accelerator through the gears and about 1/2 way through 3rd, I started to smell a "lovely" burning rubbery smell crossed with that fresh new exhaust smell. I eased off and let him fly off in to the sitance on his own and the smell went in about 1/2 a mile. Any clues guys? If it helps, the engine had only been running about 3-4 mins before.

I considered that but I didn't pull off using it heavily or wait at the lights holding it on the clutch (ie. lights went amber, then I chucked it in 1st).

Yep but if for whatever reason it's slipping, you would get that smell anyway?

Re: a lovely smell! NOT!

Not sure what exactly it could be but tbh i would say it's not a good idea to rag any car until it's up to temperature! Whether (sp) turbo, or N/A but that's just my thoughts

Re: a lovely smell! NOT!

A clutch burning smell is a smell similar to burning rubber just much more potent.

Re: a lovely smell! NOT!

i'd describe it more of an acrid whiff, then a burning rubber smell though.
