Exclamation Heater Control Unit

The thing that turns the heater fan on and off (1-2-3) in the Cinq' is broken. I've tried removing the dash but you can't seem to get at it...

I started to follow what it said in the haynes manual about getting to it and got as far as removing the covers, wiper motor and arms and gave up when it said to start removing pipes and air filters and all sorts..

Is this really the only way of fixing it? Or is there another way? Help!!!

If it is the only way - where's the best place to do it? Dealer or friendly local mechanic?

Re: Heater Control Unit

The whole heater assembly has to come out, and that is from the engine side. So yes, battery out, airfilter off, cooling system drained and disconnected, remove carper bulkhead, wiper mechanism and those are the bits I can remember.

Inside, dash cowl out and, I think, four screws holding the box into the dash.

Have fun.

Cheers

Its probably three hours work, so 3 x the labour rate of the garage of your choice, plus the VAt, of course.

Cheers

A) I did and gave up.
B) I don't have the patience and/or experience and/or trust in myself to do it without cocking it up
C) I don't have enough space in Swansea, because my car's parked on the roadside on a terraced street
