 | engine swaps just want to get the legal side of putting a 1242 engine in out of my head when i tell the dvla (if i have to?), do i have to have any sort of inspection to confirm the work was done? also do i have to tell them if i put a 6 speed box in ?

 | Re: engine swaps Just change the details on the V5 and let the DVLA know the increase in engine size and new engine number. Also, tell your insurance company as you'll be in deep doo-doo if you have a prang and you haven't told them ! Your insurance company MAY want an engineers report but DVLA won't. I changed from automatic to manual on one of my previous cars and the insurance wanted a fully detailed engineers report. Just depends on your insurers.

| Principality Retained :) | Re: engine swaps DVLA...yes. Inform them you have a 1242cc. Yes also to a 6 speeder, although yude be lucky to find one! Inspection...depends on insurance, they will advise as necessary
