Query

<font size="6"></font id="size6"><font color="black"></font id="black">
Firstly ladies and gents let me say hi. I am new to this forum and have not had time to go through it as thoroughly as i would like yet, so forgive me if I ask any stupid questions!

I am considering buying either a Cinq Sporting with a view to doing some modding on, or a Sei sporting to keep pretty much as standard but poss. warm gently in the furure. I currently run a Cinq 900 in standard trim which is great around local back lanes and is a hoot to sling around but is just a leeetle underpowered.

I have almost decided on a Sei as all the Cinqs I have looked at have been completely hammered. I have jeard tho, that Sei Sportings have a one piece exhaust system which means that it has to be replaced all at once, including the cat (£££ouch£££). Also that the cheapest tyres you can get for the standard wheels are £80 a corner. If I buy a Sei with the Abarth kit on then I don't want to be shelling out for more wheels just to have more choice in rubber.

Oh and one last thing has anyone heard of any problems on higher mileage ones with the electric power steering. It's not something I've ever encountered before so I'm a little nervous of it.

There that should be enough to be going on with!

:)

Errrrrrrrr... hello?

If the standard exhaust comes as one piece, it's different to what the Fiat parts CD says - but it's not impossible, a Mondeo I used to have came exactly like that. Somewhere like Quik-Fit will try to rip you off and say you need a full system if it is, but in reality any exhaust fitter who knows his job can cut and sleeve a new piece to an existing system - but they will whinge about it as they are doing themselves out of another sale. I almost ended up nose to nose with the boss of a Quik-Fit who said that was impossible, then did it anyway.

On the other hand, it's the perfect excuse to fit a full Supersprint decat system though, innit.:D

Tyres - 175/50-14's are standard on the abarth rims,
http://www.mytyres.net/start.html
have these from £56 each (not inc. fitting & balancing, add about £5 a corner for this) or the standard wheels have 165/55-13's on, from £27 each at the same website.
175/50-13's fit well and work great on 13" wheels, these can be had from £41 from the same place.
Sometimes it pays to ring around, tell Quik-Fit or whoever that you can get them for £x from here and can they match or beat it, or play several of them off against one another to find a good price.

I managed to get 4 BF Goodrich 175/50-13's fitted and balanced for £175.:D

oh, nearly forgot. Welcome to the forum!:)

Pete.

sei exhaust are as far as i know one piece, at least as far back as the cat, i replaced just the back box tho, not too much hassle just chopped the existing pipe in the right place.

Thanks for your replies people. I am partly reassured. ;)

If you fit a full decat system won't it fail it's MOT tho? (Forgive me, I'm new to this modding thing. I was a biker until 2 days ago!)

Also, what would you recommend for a fun drive, the Cinq or the Sei? In an ideal world.

Errrrrrrrr... hello?

theres not a lot of difference between the two, and i'm sure cinq drivers will say buy a cinq and sei drivers will say buy a sei, bottom line is really budget, as all sei's are newer than cinqs they cost more.

If you fit a de-cat pipe it WILL fail the mot as the emissions will be way too high.
Personally i would recommend a Sei the cinqs getting a bit past it now, sorry cinq owners :D

My Car is now for sale, A total one-off, head turning bargin!!!
