Rear Window Screen Motor and Wiper...

Hi

I bought a new rear window screen motor and wiper off shop4parts.co.uk. I fitted the new motor fine no probs but when i got my new rear wiper out it seemed to have a different fitting altogether... so i thinking i have been sent either the wrong motor or wiper...

on the bit that sticks through the boot to attach the wiper to it, there seems to be some horizontal teeth that the wiper to attaches to to help it move across the rear screen BUT on the wiper there are no teeth what so ever on it there is only a metal washer and that is it .... so what part is wrong do you think?? - i havnt got the old blade to compare it as someone snapped it off for me along with the part on the motor it attaches to !!

Re: Rear Window Screen Motor and Wiper...

If you look closely the motor spindle is cone shaped, the 'teeth' you refer to are just splines. The hole in the arm will go over the splines, then the washer then the nut. As you tighten the nut the arm will key itself to the splines on the spindle.

Cheers

Have you been sent a 899cc motor?

I got burnt after buying a supposed rear wiper blade for my Cinq only to find it was a metal one for a 899cc and not the plastic one I was after.

It will still fit the spindle, whether its an 899 or 1108 one.

The new wiper blade does not go over the splines as you call them so does this mean i have the wrong wiper blade arm or rear wiper motor?

Re: Rear Window Screen Motor and Wiper...

If it goes far enough on to get the nut started you are probably OK, if it doen't go that far you have a mismatch. If you cant be bothered working out which bit is wrong, carefully enlarge the hole on the arm you have, small round file or cone bit for the drill.

cheers
