Intermittent loss of power & rough idle

Kids have a 900cc Cinq which has been allowed to overheat 120 C.
Found fan burned out (now fixed).
ECU panel light now comes on & off like a bridesmaids dress.
Car strains to acelerate @ times, then ok.
Idles rough & can stalls when stationary (sometimes).
Some journeys without incident.
Doing my head in big stile.
Diagnostic man coming round will he help??? @ £40 a go.

Re: Intermittent loss of power & rough idle

If it's been allowed to overheat, the head could be warped !!!

Without anybody seeing/hearing the car, it could be a lot of things.

The diagnostic should pinpoint it, I'd ring around a bit though. Got my codes read for £25.

..oh, and welcome!

Re: Intermittent loss of power & rough idle

Cinq Sporting temp guage goes to 130 so if it got to 120 and you turned it off it could be ok, I might have been lucky but I drove a 160 mile round trip with a burst coolant hose and had to top up every 20 minutes and there was no reprecussions even when putting in ice cold water to an engine that was scalding, saying that the fan was still working though.

Check

Lambda,

MAP and crank sensor or wait till Diag. Man visits.
