(T) Cinq Thumping Out Of 2nd Gear

Hey guys and gals,

not sure if the car is going to be written off or repaired at the mo, but in the event its repaired, i have a problem with 2nd gear, if i put it in gear and let go it just slides a few mm's and sits just out of gear and if i hold it at about 4k rpm it thumps (very violently), if im holding it in i can usually keep it in gear and after a couple of thumps (car jumping about also lol) it'll return to normal (as long as i hold it in gear so it doesnt slide out), this only happens in second, all the other gears are ok, anyone got any ideas? i think the old ladies in my village are fed up of almost redline in 1st then change to stalling point in 3rd lol

Is there a better excuss to source a 6 speed or what??

well im praying the cinq is written off heh but if it isnt i may well consider 6 speed box (pending consulting uncle kev )

Doesn't the 6 speed box give you a lower top end??

I think so....but can yu really be arsed going that fast? Its getting there to said speed that interests me!

93mph at 6k revs on standard cinq sporting wheels from a mk1 6 speed box. 80mph cruise won't be a cruise any more and will be at 5150 revs.

well the cinq now hardly goes into any gear, and if it does it crunches into it, have tried adjusting clutch cable to no avail, so if it isnt written off im gonna cry

Did you have a new clutch on with the engine swap?

The writing off of the cinqi is a result of a sad sorry tale which i won't go into detail about, but it has nothing to do with the gearbox>

well the car is now properly br0ken, if its not written off i dont think i'll have the cash to bring it back onto the road for quite some time
