| Alarm / remote locking Install Hi, I'm planning how to fit my alarm and would appreciate some help/advice from anyone who has experience. What is the best to immobilise coil or fuel pump. (presumably not the starter motor as the car could be push started). where is the best place to tap into the central locking (what colour cables are the lock and unlock controls). many thanks

| Re: Alarm / remote locking Install Right you are probably best too imobalise the fuel pump if you only have one point of immobalisation. The best place too do this is just under the clocks. Take off your top piece of dash. Take the clocks out speedo cable can be a bit of a ****. Under the clocks coming from the ignition barrel there will be a couple of thick wires you need one of them but i can't remember what colour it is. The central locking control unit is found just above your accelerator leg if you were sat in the car. If memory serves you need the white with a blue trace. Hope this helps

| Re: Alarm / remote locking Install Currently I am thinking about getting an alarm and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of a reliable/good alarm.ld like one with remote central locking and possible and immobiliser? My dad has a Toad alarm in his accent and after starting the car it locks the doors after 5secs, i am not so keen on this as it gets kon my nerves a bit. Also is it a DIY job or is it best to get a pro to do it? I have heard that some insurance companies prefer if the alarm has been fitted my a certified fitter? companies prefer if the alarm has been fitted my a certified fitter? Any thoughts would be great, thanks.

Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: (0) | Re: Alarm / remote locking Install I have a toad alarm that does the self locking aswell, It can be easly turned off, just ask the bloke whos fitting the alarm to turn it off, they asked me before they installed it if i wanted it. In the cinq tho it doesnt really matter if it is on or off, in some cars if u lock the doors it disables the outside and inside handles from opening the door but the cinq dont. Wen you turn the engine off it reopens itself as you most prob know, or if you just want to get out with the engine running just pull the handle from inside and the door will open, you dont need to pull the pin up to do so. This is more of a safty device so people cannot highjack you and incase of an accident you can get out quickly without having to mess around with pulling the pin up.

| Was VXR enough :( | Re: Alarm / remote locking Install (sorry to high-jack the thread) i too have a toad, and the doors dont lock everytime i put the ignition on, they do sometimes and dont sometimes- its wierd. Does anyone know how to make it lock everytime? I'd go for a toad, only had this one problem. I paid 110 quid for the toad compact C3 and got it fitted for 60 quid.

Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: (0) | Re: Alarm / remote locking Install Check that the doors are shut properly, if a door is open while the key is in the ignition and turned round so all the lights are on, it wont lock also, It has a safty device so if you leave the car wit the engine running ( so leaving the door open wen starting engine, or starting engine then opening the door and closing it) the doors wont lock and you get locked out. Just check all ya passengers are in and doors closed before you start the engine.

| Re: Alarm / remote locking Install I have a microscan set up, all fitted by me and my pa. Works a treat. I bought the two-door central locking kit and remote adaptor and that was stunning However, I then decided to buy as new alarm, sow ent with microscan. This has an output to c/l anyway. So, best advice w/ microscan is buy a two door c/l kit Bout £40 IIRC. Then buy a microscan alarm unit with outputs to c/l (Mine was about £79, but can go up to about £100 depedning on options). Then take a saturday and fit it all yourself. Dead easy.
