...forgive my innocence - but what's a charcoal canister when it's at home? ![]() ![]() ![]() Connects to the block via a hole held in with a c clip, and on the other side a blue pipe hooks up to it on that long shaft, and stays put with the help of some green button thing that you squeeze to remove it....

| ' | Re: intake air temp sensor????? I was right ![]() That is the solenoid (ie switch) that controls air from the charcoal cannister. TO stop hydrocarbons leaking into the atmosphere, the furel tank is sealed (unlike on older cars). The fumes gather at teh top of the tank. A the top of the tank there is a hose that travel all the way to the wheel arch lineer. In there is a charcoal cannister. Which is simply that. A box with charcoal in it, and inlet and an outlet. The inlet to the cannister comes from the tank, the outlet goes to the solenoid, and then to the air intake. The solenoid is switched on and off, and the manifold pressure draws gas through the cannister, form the tank, under ceratin ECU conditions. This is then burnt off, as it is combusted. Thak help you? ![]() Cheers, Kristian PS. It's on all the mpi
