revs

my new seis clutch is a bit on the brutal side at the best of times, so i hope this isn't yet another problem developing, so here goes. How many revs does your seis pull at about 30mph in third? mines is currently at about 3200rpm in third, roughly 2000 in 4th, is that about right?

i don't remember my cinq being that high, but do seis have shorter gearing to compensate for their extra weight?

Re: revs

Gearing is the same, Sporting for Sporting. The Sei MPI Sporting Abarth has lower gearing to compensate for 14" wheels, the MPI S and SX 1108 have slightly higher gearing.

By "brutal" I guess you mean your clutch is engaging right at the top of the pedal? Adjust it by turning the adjuster clockwise.

Your clutch is unlikely to be slipping -- usually this reveals itself by a perios during which the revs rise (as it were) by themselves when accelerating (it will do it around peak torque) and then settle down again.

Can't remember what revs I'm pulling at 30 in intermediate gears.

Re: revs

the clutch bites very quickly, no matter how smoothly you try to engage it, its a bit rough and stiff when the pedals coming up. possibly just one of the pivots?

the weight of the pedals fine, theres no crunching into reverse or first, the biting point is fairly low, but not stupidly low

Re: revs

Could be damaged springs in the driven plate. If it gets much worse its new clutch time.

Edit:- Unless someone has fitted an unsprung clutch, any history with the car?

Cheers

Re: revs

very little, no history on the clutch at all it's very tricky to drive smoothly, but if you are very careful, it can be driven normally... funnily enough, it seems to get a good bit better once the cars warmed up, still not perfect though

Re: revs

I am guessing that you don't wish to know that having owned 5 Cinqs over 12 years I have only snapped one clutch cable and had no other problems!!

Cheers
