hehe i want something that will shock people, looks like a fiat, but really its a beast lol.... I just want a bit of horsepower under my foot, rather than a noisy eggbox. Ive asked about tuning my standard engine, but no-one has a clue... what about a sporting engine then.. will that fit straight in? and ould it be turbo-ed?

What u mean, looks like a fiat but actually its a beast?? lol
you've posted about a sporting conversion before havn't you mate?
I guess it could be done, and yes the 1.1 can be turbo'd by vanaaken:D
At a price of over £1000[xx(]
If u didn't care about how long or difficult an engine swap could be, why not drop a 1.4 Punto GT lump under the bonnet??

Why don't you buy a sporting then do the much easier 1242 coversion e.g. with the punto 75 engine?

or get a sporting and buy the CDA induction kit from GSR which provides enough power to out perform a 1242!! (Its true its on the website! A standard 1.1 sporting fitted with the CDA induction kit out performed a 1242 cinq)

yeah but if your looking to outperform a nova with a 2 litre, which in standard form pumps out up to 150 bhp depending on 8v/16v then you will need more than that.

Hmm..

Id like to see yu stick a 2L engine in that engine bay and still keep it legal without external bodywork! (wheels within arches!)

Guys,

If we are talking non-fiat engine transplants then how about the Honda 1.6 B16a Vtec Engine and gerbox in a Cinq?? I have fitted one in a Mini (Old shape) and it goes like stink. The Cinq weighs less and has a bigger engine bay.....yes bigger!!!! The Vtec engine puts out 160BHP as std and with a decent exhaust and filter that goes up to 170BHP. With cams you can nudge 185BHP...all without a Turbo!!! Seing as you can pick up a complete Honda Engine,Box and ECU for £300 it is Cheap BHP!!! Looking at the Cinq Engine bay....it wouldnt be that hard to fit. As to wheels sticking out of the arches....that doesnt happen when you fit specially made driveshafts....with Honda Inner CV Joints and Fiat Cinq Outers!!! The Gearshift is easy to mofdify as you position the shift lever and box so its pops through the std Cinq hole and shorten the 2 gear selection shafts to match.....job jobbed. I estimate a cinq fitted with a std Vtec engine would do 0-60 in 6 secs...at the most!!!

That would BLOW the pants off your Nova driving mate!!!

Do it!!!

Regards

Andy:D

Did you do the vtec engine conversion in your mini yourself?

How much do u reckon that kind of conversion would cost? If you bought the engine, gearbox and ecu for 300 notes like you said, how much would a garage charge to fit the stuff?

And how much would a garage charge to fit a 1250 punto engine? Prices would vary a lot i know, but an approximation would be appreciated.

I know i dont have a Cinq/Sei, i have a 1.0 litre Uno, but im guessing the prices would be similar for both cars, right...

The Punto engine is a straight swap into the Cinq/Sei....im not sure about the uno....Im guessing but I think you are looking at about 5 hours labour....somewhere in the region of £120-£180 fitted.

As to the Vtec conversion.....I would get a cinq with a knackered engine, hoist out the std engine and box and offer up the Vtec engine and box on a hoist and then design and make the engine/gearbox mounts to suit. Wiring up the ecu is straight forward...only 10 or so wires. The Fueling would require just an uprated pump and lastly the exhaust would need making..I would personally use a company near me in Macclesfield called JP Exhausts to make the manifold and system to suit. Lastly.....I would use the honda raditatior as it is smaller than the Cinq's and more effiecient!!

If you have an uno...just sell it and buy an uno turbo...save yourself the hassle!!

Cheers

Ah but mines a rare Metallic Black Uno with no rust.... Yes, NO RUST :p

The Punto 1250 engine seems a worth while conversion into a cinq or sei (or uno hehe), and im guessing the 0-60 times would be 9 seconds-ish too

what engine would be easiest to diy with a few mates, is there any engines that allow u to use the cinqs gearbox and drive shafts? or does it all need to be changed? like the sound of the Honda 1.6 B16a Vtec tho lol :D
