Pretty much regardless as to which engine you fit, you need the matching gearbox. The only transplant where you dont is the 1242, if you are using a sporting that is. With your 899cc Cinq, you need to swap the gearbox anyway...even for the 1108cc. If you can insure it, go for the 1242 or if you CAn afford it, go for the B16a Honda Vtec. If any of you guys live in the Manchester/North West Area and want to do this conversion...I can help. I can get B16a Engines and Gearboxes aplenty.....I just need a "Donar" cinq to play with. Once one has been done a set of brackets and instructions can be made making it a simple bolt in job for anoyne who is handy with the spanners!!

Its NOT a job id want to pay a garage to do though....it aint no "Cheque book" job...you would be talking BIG money!!!

Given a donar Cinq and some willing help...I could do it over the space of a month or so. The only reason I cant use my own cinq is that I need it to get to work in......my other car is a Skyline GT-R and using that to travel 90 miles a day to work aint an option!!!

So...if someone has a cinq with a knackered engine, lives in the North West and fancies a Fonda (Fiat/Honda)........get in touch!!

Cheers

Am I right in thinking (all cinq owners) that it would be cheaper for him to buy a Cinq sporting then do the conversion? By far...

Yes, but it's always better to be able to keep your car.

Face it mate, any conversion you do is gonna be big money and a big job. There is no-way you'll ever get a bolt-for-bolt job unless you get another 899cc engine.

Even if you do the conversion, have you considered the insurance gains??

my cinq took on a 2 litre nova yesterday at york drag strip, he ran 4 seconds faster than me, and ive got a few bits here and there done on my car, at the end of the day, only way you'll match or outperform is not with a 1242 or turbo 1108, its gonna be the punto gt turbo or similar.

But hey at least i had the guts to race him :p

Abarth Kitted Cinq Sporting, Sig coming soon ;)

Not yet, waiting to hear from the recruitment agency, they said hopefully should be working at Inland Revenue next monday onwards but I don't want to pressure them too much so am not phoning until mid-this week.

I know you're not being funny but for the time I've spent on here, the only thing I have learnt is the difficultly of replacing the 899 engine.

Don't commit insurance fraud :( Please don't....

Men,

Sod the 1.2 or 1.2 litre transplants....this thread is for SERIOUS power. I want to build the ULTIMATE Cinq!!! I may have located a car today for the right price so me and my mates will get to work. We are looking at the 4 cylinder 16 valve turbo engine out of the Fiat Coupe!!! Ive measured it up and it will fit...just!!!! Hehe.....wait till its done....we'll give all of the rice rockets a run for their money at the pod....I want to be able to out drag my own Skyline GT-R...in a Cinq!!!!!!

Laters...Andy[}:)]

right ive thought of the perfect engine and think theres a chance it may fit easily its the Mk2 punto 1.8HGT engine there bloody quick tuneable and are out of puntos the same as 1242's are so will it fit and if it will who's gonna be first because it wont be me, my insurance premium is getting to me at the moment and that is just for my 899cc
