****ing car

the head gasket has now gone and so is off the road undriveable.[:(!][:(!]
now i have no car for the moment until it gets fixed!
this is what i think of the situation if im gonna pay someone to replace the head gasket which involves removing half the engine or sack the whole engine off and keep it off the road for a while and throw a 1.2 in it!

a mate says it will cost about £200 to get the head gasket done at a garage.
but how much will i be able to get a 1.2 for and is there anyone who would be able to give me hand fitting it? or can get hold of one on the cheap for me. if its going to cost about £200 to do a 1.2 conversion then i may as well go for it now.

im really in a muddle. can someone help me see the light?

I had a quote to get the head gasket done, and ur looking at about £250 (which includes the necessary oil change, anti-freeze, cam-belt etc...)

It pissed me off that much that I decided to do it with my mate (who's luckily a mechanic), took us about 3 nights afterwork in all, but it was a lot of work, and we did it properly swapped everything over, machined the head etc...

engine swap isn't that easy, u'd need to have a rough idea of what ur doing and get the use of a hoist to save ya back, and i'd check ur insurance before u go through with it!

Worth asking? Maybe worth a trip.
