Basic cinq mods from a newbie

Hullo all, Im new here...

Still, got myself a cinquecento and already done lots of little things to make it less grandma like. All in all quite chuffed.

Still, two things are shouiting at me to do, one, smooth over the tailgate, and two get a nice steering wheel. now, I have limited funds and dont want to spend loads on a wheel, so a standard fitment would be a plus (i.e. without seperate boss) or is that a no no for cinq's.

The smoothing i am a bit worried about, its mainly the boot handle i want rid of, i have taken off my nasty "Fiat" badge and it looks a whole lot better. Will get some photos up for you to judge me on soon.

Sam

You could always spray the handle in body colour until you get around to having it flushed. My Mountney wheel cost just under £80 inc. boss from Motor World.

Welcome on board too[8D]

UNfortunately not a sporting, just a standard baby. Never really thought about the difference in oomph through. Is there any? not thinking of changing just a general wondering thought.

Thanks for the ideas on spraying the handle though. Oh, and BTW, anyone got any opinion as to the debadging of a cinq's front. Taken the nasty-ass fiat badge of the back, left the cinquecento one on, but I aint sure about the front. Any pics without them on would be useful to me, although I may have a go at airbrushing it out on the PC and seeing what i think

Also, (questions, questions, questions) whats size speaker can I get in the front, behind the grills?

Yes, you could fit me in the back of a transit, but why would i want to go in?

Good to have a local lad on the forum, welcome mate. Whereabouts in Sheffield are you?

The front looks cool without the front badge IMHO, a quick search on google should throw some pictures up.

The speakers for the front will take most 10cm speakers, with co-axials (except sony custom fits) the tweeter will foul the grill so you need to chop a hole out or make some new grills from MDF (piece of pi$$) Most speakers will require a bit of plastic chopping out from the dash behind with a stanley knife as the magnets dont usually fit unless you get something like Kenwood dual (or double) mags (cant remember what they are exactly called). Components should fit straight in, you just need to decide where to fit the tweeters (either on top of the dash, reflecting off the windscreen, or flushed into the door cards).

If your going to get the back flushed, you might as well take the wiper and washer off too. If you remove everything and then get a mate that can weld, get as much work as you can done before hand, just keeps the cost down. You can weld a bit of metal behind the holes and primer the parts that need painting so that the bodyshop only needs to paint it. Then you can put the money saved towards a punto lump for under ther bonnet!

Cinquecento Sporting -- not broom yellow

I must admit that I adore the Cinq with a new Fiat round badge on the front.

Also, a mate of mine delocked his Pug[:(!]. Took lock off, stuck in a metal plate using "Chemical Metal", filled it in using Isopon P38, put filler on top, painted over it.

It's come out nicely, admittedly it is a white car!!

Sam,

The front badge bolts on and leaves quite a big hole to fill.

Sando,

Sothall, i.e. Rother Valley COuntry Park and near Eckington. not far from Chesterfield. In fact, did my CBT there when I was but a lowly scooter rider.

Might lave the front badge on thanks to advice from everyone. Have a bit of an overheating problem at the mo, but got alll the advice from fixit so will have a look thru.

Yes, you could fit me in the back of a transit, but why would i want to go in?
