Paint care- yellow..

Hi, my yellow sporting hasnt had its paint looked after - i've just bought it and want to do something about it. Just nipped to halfords to find colour matched polish but couldnt find any yellow.

What have people found as the best thing for restoring faded paintwork?

My car is red, the worst for fading. Although it seems to be OK, when you look closely on the roof, its slighty pink in places. I used T-Cut when I first bought it and now just use a normal clear wax. Brings it up nicely.

Cinquecento Sporting -- not broom yellow

I also read in a calssic car magazine that you can use a household scouring cream, like JIF or CIF or whatever the hell it is these days as a paint cutter. I tried it on my old car, a majorly faded red Belmont and it did work, though it still needed a T-Cut after to get rid of the swirls.

After that a good quality hard wax or polish should do the trick - don't use the bottled crap, get the hard stuff out of a tin for the best results...

I wouldn't recommend T-Cutting the thing every wash though - or you'll end up with a nice metallic finish, something like galvanised steel...

Just a good polish when washed should help - oh and get rid of bird crap as soon as it splodges everywhere - that stuff can fetch week old Weetabix off a dish, but it's not so great for Cinqy paintwork!

;)

Hey, I recently bought a yellow cinq, and the bodywork too was bad!! Since then i've used many many coats of T-cut then auto glym resin polish. Must have about 20 coats of polish on it, and its worked great, it looks the biss

[:0][:0][:0]please dont use too much t cut!!!!!!!! every time you use the stuff your taking paint off! use it once then use the best polish you can buy i.e autoglym super resin polish and keep using it! in the car trade all painters know that red and yellow are the most common colours to fade in the sun as they are the softest if you only need to buff up small areas use smooth cut thats not as abrasive as t cut. if you buff your whole car with t cut 4 or 5 times then you might as well get a respray as the paint on your car will be so thin from cutting it. and lastly DO NOT USE ABRASIVES LIKE JIF!!!! sure fine way to ruin a car as they contain derivitives of bleach that will kill your paint in no time! hope this helps?

WHEN THIS BABY HIT'S 88...YOUR GONNA SEE SOME SERIOUS s**t!
