Exterior boot lock (...flushing of...)

Has anyone flushed their boot of all the ugly bits like boot lock/handle and windscreen wiper and jet? I want to keep the wiper and jet for now but get rid of the lock on the outside as I dont fancy someone screwdrivering it now I've got a sub and amp etc... Can you just remove the exterior bit and flush it without it effecting the locking mechanism at all? Is it just a case of undoing the bolts, undoing the connection to the main lock (inside the boot) and then getting a bodyshop to fill the hole?

I still have a remote boot popper thing that is next to the drivers seat, will this be affected?

P.S If anyone has had it done, how much would I be looking at paying?

the remote popper would remain unaffected so theres no need to add a solenoid to open the boot door once flushed.

hope that helps

Yeah it does, thanks.

I'm gonna get my haynes and tools out tonight and have a go at taking it off to see if the central locking works still. If it does, I'll start ringing around for quotes to get it flushed and painted. I'm going to put mesh behind it and prepare as much as I can to keep the cost down.

it won't affect the central locking. leave the boot open and lock the doors to find out.

had the lock and wiper taken off mine. no problems.just take the external bits off, and it still closes (ie the lock catches fine) and you use the boot release as nomal.
