Painting Wheels

..right, my car goes into the bodyshop next week, and i have my new alloys boxed in my garage. I've just had a thought before ordering my tyres that i fancy paintingand my wheels, I noticed a silver cinq on here once with the punto gt alloys in that Anth??colour (don't ask me how its it spelt) and it really suited the car.Wanna do the same with my alloys. So do you get them sprayed or powder coated, or is powder coating just solid colours like red, black, white etc and not metallics. If its a spray job, does anyone have the paint code?

Thanks in advance

Re: Painting Wheels

'Twas indeed Anthracite and looks well good on the Cinq....especially with punto GT items - I'd have thought that they'd present fitment issues though, and would be interested as to how this was overcome.

Would the Cinq sporting rims look good in Anthracite??? Any photoshoppers care to oblidge??

Click on my site > cinq plans and they are in there. They are like a fat n curvy 5 spoke, but i just think the darker look would look tasty, nestled under the stupidly low arches thanks to me suspension

I see you've bought some new alloys - are you selling the rims then? Did they fit straight on with OEM punto rubber?

Maybe interested!

I would get them sprayed. The powder coat can get chipped a lot easier than a modern paint finish (so I've been told). If you go for powder coat and it gets chipped, then you have to redo the whole job again

Re: Painting Wheels

Get them sprayed two-pack lacquer-over-base anthracite. It is much tougher than powder coating, any bodyshop can do it for you and you have a greater choice of colours/shades. Make sure whoever fits the tyres uses stick-on wieghts when balancing as knock-on weights will damage the coating. (and they look minging...)

Naturally I must direct you to pics of the orange skanger banger in the thread on this page.... Wheels painted with metallic black two pack, better than new.

£180 from e-bay, was a style that i haven't really seen, but i just liked the curvy spokes and think it'll suit my Cinq well, especially in the dark shade
