Re: New Cobra Monacos For Real Cheap

they will fit with Cobra's own sub frames, but should be noted they do not tilt.

Like here as ref: http://www.gbdriver.co.uk/acatalog/O..._monaco_1.html

They will not fit with the Pug/Citroen subframes, you'll need to get some Cinq Specific frames to mount them seats in the car

What ever specific ones you get will atke ages to order in so you might want to order them straight away. Like about 4 weeks min! I got sparco universaleonesand they just fit, with a little bit of work. But specific ones i would advise. HTH Dan

Que?

The OMP universal tilting subframe can be used, but it needs some major fettlage to fit.

The only reason I removed mine so my car would pass the MOT was beacuse when the frame was locked down, it wasnt rigid enough.

Having taken it out, it can be seen that the metal of the frame had actually failed and bent.. Obviously this isnt a good thing, so Im keeping it out until I design a more rigid arrangement using some 50 * 50mm steel bar.

TBH, from what Ive noticed, the car will pass an MOT provided the seat is mounted securely, and the seatbelts are mounted securely, with two points (for a 3pt system) being mounted directly to the bodywork...The guy that tested mine didnt like the fact that the seatbelt was mounted to the seat in two places, and that seat mounting was highly insecure.

As far as subframes go, an MOT bloke (or laydee) wont know that a subframe is factory spec or not. But the obvious thing is, (if yure doing yure own) is that bigger materials are better...Crash dynamics involves some very big scary numbers, and I wouldnt want a badly designed seat mount to fail- cos thats me or my passenger thru the windscreen

For example: my current factory Subframe is fabbed from 3mm steel throughout. The one Im doing is using 50*50 bar...More area = less pressure = less chance of failure!!

Re: New Cobra Monacos For Real Cheap

Like I said..Elegantly Wasted,

First is overall shot - note the warpage and bending along the base
Second is nearest locking assembly end - the distance between the plates should be the same - around 10mm!!

Erm, thats the tilting subframe I took out of the car, and decided not to put back in, as its due to fail catastrophically...

As far as rear seats go...yu arent required to have seats in the back at all, but If yu have them, they must have seatbelts, so it has to be a full seat or no seat, and the tester must be able to get into the back to test them (theoretically - as seat belt security isnt actually meant to be tested (I think) for the car MoT, but if its obviously insecure, yu'll be pulled up on it.
