Technically any bodykit will fit any car - just depends how much cash / time / patience / skill you have...

Alaina's cinq has had some fairly radical mods done to it, and there used to be a blue cinq with a saxo bodykit on it aswell - so pretty much anything is possible...

A member of Clubcento had a mk2 Sporting (I think) front bumper modified to fit their Cinq.

Re: Punto Mk1 Bodykit on a Cinq?

so i'm guessing it isnt a case of just relocating mounting points, and would probably need a fair bit of work?

just thought i'd ask, a mate of mine offered me his combat mk1 kit for about 70, and i was leaning toward a diy job... any pointers on attempting a diy swap?

If you needed to ask these kinds of questions your not going to be able to do it yourself mate.

Re: Punto Mk1 Bodykit on a Cinq?

just interested in roughly how much modding i'd need to do to the bumpers to get them to go on properly, and whether it'd be worth a pop?

Re: Punto Mk1 Bodykit on a Cinq?

well the donor car is bigger
so you will most likely need to cut it down the middle and remove a section for the width of a cinq
then rebond the 2 parts
smooth/sculpt it to hide the join
then the whole shape of the bumper to body will be wrong,so you wil need to cut/mould these parts to mate with the car
then you need to look at the mounts
then get it sprayed
this is the simplified list

possible, but a whole load of work.

if your looking to get a bargain, put a cinq kit on, as the punto one will cost alot more in the long run.

Re: Punto Mk1 Bodykit on a Cinq?

any bodykit can be made to fit any car, usually the top section of the standard bumper is kept for mounting points etc and the bottom half of the kit is bonded to the original top part and blended in. you will be able to make it fit but i wouldnt try it if you havent got any decent experience with boywork as the cutting and bonding is critical because once its glued on thats it.

there are several places that will make any kit fit but you are looking around the thousand pounds mark just to make it fit, thats before paint. if you are seriously interested in doing this then i will do a decent price for you fitted and painted

Re: Punto Mk1 Bodykit on a Cinq?

Cheers for the advice and stuff guys... going to have to put that thought back on the 'not now' pile as something else has come up.

off topic of the thread but i've had a prob with the cinq pulling to the left slightly for a little while since i kerbed it at about 20mph (long story... immigrant drivers cant see for **** ). Anyway, got it tracked and the pulling was still there but not as bad... then today i put the alloys back on and the cars pulling about twice as much now (straight steering wheel = 1/8 turn to left!)
checked pressures, 32psi all round but still being a pain in the arse.

Any suggestions before i take it in and end up paying through the arse for something that probably could've been done on my drive?

Cheers

jings there,s a suprise... seriously anybody who ask.s this sort of thing realy has to step back & ask themselves have they made the right choice of car etc when asking about diffirent bodykits alltogether fitting their vehicles...
pointed out earlier it will cost a fortune to do this type of job so anyone asks these sort of questions is very niave,& by the sounds of things tight for money..so at the end of the day you do the maths

Re: Punto Mk1 Bodykit on a Cinq?

luckily didnt have alloys on when i kerbed it, had to take off a couple of weeks ago thanks to a blowout on the M5. steelie's got a couple of dents in it though...

strangely though, if the dents on the steelies had a majorly detrimental effect then surely the alloys would be better and not worse?!

Re: Punto Mk1 Bodykit on a Cinq?

Hallo
It is possible.. I used the rear bumper from a MK1 Punto kit on my cinq, but, as everyone else has said, it can be a lot of work:

I used a Renault 5 front bumper, which worked a lot better because the two cars are a similar shape, whereas the Punto is a lot more rounded than the cinq.. still a lot of work though!!

If you have your heart set on doing it, then go for it.. don't let people put you off! I started off with some standard / easy fit parts and just ended out changing them all in the end, so wasted time and money when I should have just gone for what I wanted at the start.

Just be prepared for either a lot of work if you DIY, or a lot of time without your car and a big bill if you ask someone else to do it for you!!
Good luck!
