Single Wiper

Any ideas how to make a single wiper conversion for a cinqy? What parts would i need? I want a straight wiper that sits in the middle of the windscreen, when its in the 'OFF' position. HEEEELLLLPPPP!!!:D

Interior + ICE Sorted...Bumpers,Wheels,springs and Backbox left to sort!

I'm not having much luck sourcing parts for my kits, but a "central" parked wiper is illegal as it's a straight MOT fail.

I should be able to supply these soon, central ones marked "For Off-road or show use only" obviously, but who takes notice of these warnings;)

You can either:-

Lengthen the stroke on the motor end, or

shorten the stroke on the centre mount.

The parking is a matter of changing the position of the arm on the motor and can be changed in minutes.

Cheers

I thought yu could change the park by just moving the position of wiper arm on the pivot (arm end)

Hmm, I actually have a linkage that works as a single wiper, problem is that another part of it is fooqed!

Do a search in the styling section for "single wiper". I was in discussion with Donz and Brickfoot about it ages ago (last august).

Look at that, ten get back to me if yu cant get what I did. Needs a hacksaw and a welder!

If you think about what the centre wiper does, going from park to just over 90 degrees from the park position, you need it to go a bit further. If you use a straight wiper arm, then you will get some of that extra by repositioning the arm on the spindle. You then need to make the spindle travel further than normal.

So take the centre spindle out, cut the rear arm just up from the ball joint, then cut again to remove the excess material. Reweld the first removed part. You have now shortened the stroke of the centre mount. A wee bit of maths will save the trial and error, or you can do it the manual way with the wiper arm attached to work out how much to cut out.

Cheers

David, how do yu do the maths of this?

I tried and got very confused so went for the trial and error method:D
I really have lost faith in my mathematical ability....which is really not a good thing.;)
