Matching Bumpers?

Hi all,
I was just wondering what all your opinions are on me spraying all my bumpers white to match the body work? Also I was wondering how hard it would be and any pointers on how to do it?

Cheers

Re: Matching Bumpers?

I think it'd be fine.

Take off the bumper (one at a time!), thoroughly clean and degrease, spirit wipe, 600 grit wet or dry, spirit wipe, plastic primer (else it'll crack and fall off!), de-nib if necessary, white to match body colour.

Re: Matching Bumpers?

you'd be better of getting hold of some bumpers already colour coded from another car. they will be smoother, save a lot of sanding work and you'll get a better finish!

Re: Matching Bumpers?

I'm not bothered about labour work, because it's all part of the fun.

Ok thanks all, will post pictures when I'm done.

Cheers

Re: Matching Bumpers?

only problem with cinqs, is all the bare metal inside too, so ideally needs to be a proper full job. thats why i kept mine red (and black), to keep the cost down.

yeah spose if its black you'd get away with it. cos of the matching contrast. could tie in black wheels easier too!

Re: Matching Bumpers?

If the surface is really rough, go to 400 wet or dry: I'd not go coarser than that!

The advantage in starting from an unpainted bumper is that you won't have to deal with all the paint cracks caused by contact parking!

Good luck, and pics, please!

Re: Matching Bumpers?

I know they did a seicento in white, but it was an SX model, I would love to see someone drop that 60mm with some sporting wheels, interior and an abarth kit all round. Would look awesome I think.

Luke.
