Rat Cinq?!!?

hi guys, been browsing around the web in boredom and have decided that 'rat' style cars are rad! (main culprits are beetles) wondered if anyone has or has seen any ratty cinqs.

by ratty i mean primer colours, deep chromeys, slammed and dirty haha

Not really the majority of us take pride in our vehicles

ratty cars arent always neglegted they can look pretty sweet!

agreed especially camper vans more than beetles

you have to remember that centos do not rust due to galvanised bodies so unless extremely poorly looked after or perhaps having a panel replaced with a non galvanised pattern part then the rat look is a bit impossible to pull off

Some of the Polski folk run rat cars. Good place to look for ideas. Not all of them are neglected.

I passed a rat Sei with Polish plates last weekend, but they didn't wave back!

that golf looks gash, just looks uncared for and messy. But ther ride height and de-bumperness look good

thats the point of a rat car, its meant to look like a bag of crap but with more than likely serious engine work

I really dont get the whole Rat scene. Whats the point in spending money on a car etc and then making it look like a pile of crap?

Rat styling (if you could even call it styling) is rubbish. Makes the car look uncared for and like a shed. Regardless how fast it is, it still looks like a £50 shed. They are generally poorly modified with hand painted paint jobs or matt black from a halfords can paint job and cut springs to lower it beyond any sensible level (might look cool but go over a hill too fast and youll kill youself). Plus you will make your car unsellable as noone will want to buy a rusty, half arsed attempt at modding a car.

The sleeper look is much better. Strip it down to the bare essentials inside and despec the exterior to look like a lesser model. Then get some black steelies and there you go

its a strange concept, maybe to do with todays society being stifled by brand new cars, its getting rarer to see a car that been "well used".
Maybe a result insurance companies scrapping old cars when uneconomically repairable or the craze of buying a new car every couple of years.
cars are losing there character and maybe these ones are retaining a little of what cars used to be.....
like when interior design went through the whole rustic stage, shabby chic.

my car is, and always has been more go than show. but if it looked as bad as them rusty heaps i'd be embarrassed to drive it.

Mine is a bit ratty close up, its had a hard life, but it doesn't stop me washing it and trying to keep it tidy.
