Painting wheels

Right the option of finding 13" wheels for straight swap is getting either to complicated or too expensive. so I am thinking of painting my alloys.
How though what is the preocess? has anybody done it and how? I ve a few ideas that I whant to materialise but i dont know how. I ws thinking Black with a small red trim or dark silver. Those i think are the best coloures to suite a red sporting cinq.

Any advise and comments are welcomed

Re: Painting wheels

I sprayed mine black, and I was happy with the result. It wasn't hard to do but it took alot of prep work before spraying.

I used:
2 coats of primer
3 coats of black
3 coats of lacquer.

Also if you do it, be careful when handling them for a few days afterwards to allow the paint to fully harden, and avoid chips etc.

1. You can use sand paper, but emery cloth is far more durable

2. No, but I need 2 replacing, and I was careful on the other 2 (masking tape etc.)

3. Just sand it as much as possiible - it is nearly impossible to completely smooth them.

I will get some pictures when I can, but it is raining at the moment!

Re: Painting wheels

Wheels look a bit grubby because the car has been standing for a while.

Re: Painting wheels

Shot blasting & powder coating is the best way to go when it comes to painting your wheels.
Its a kinda expensive though, about £35 per alloy.
