Fitting Abarth steering wheel to 93 mk1 Cinq

With my Cinq being a 1st Gen, I seem to continually find peculiarities which set it apart from more modern centos - so I thought I better ask.

Are there any oddities about the steering collumn that anyone knows about?

More specifically - I have just bought an Abarth steering wheel (which I believe was originally made by Momo?), complete with boss kit from fleabay for the very reasonable price of £30.
Any guides to fitting procedure?

I have various cinq manuals (Haynes, Porter etc), so I should be able to manage this one without much help, but if someone's done a guide or picture diary of fitment before then obviously it will make my life easier...

...if not, I feel a guide submission coming along this friday

good good.... I was kinda worried about getting the horn to work, but since the wheel is coming off a 95 (i think) sporting I doubt if there will be too much hassle involved so long as the copper contacts stay intact when I "carefully" remove the existing wheel :-P

if its like the normal momo boss then you just hook the spades for the horn to the boss ring

Ok - steering wheel is in, but there was only one spade connector coming from the boss to the wheel, and as such the horn doesn't appear to work...

...any thoughts?

Re: Fitting Abarth steering wheel to 93 mk1 Cinq

there should be one spade which goes to the middle of the horn, then when the horn is pressed it grounds out and makes the horn circuit

this is all from memory as i did mine without thinking about it and was lucky in that it worked

Cheers for that Alex - upon further inspection it was a bit weirder than what you have just described...

There was as you say a spade designed to hook up to the centre, but also two more connection terminals on the horn button.
After seeing how all the internals worked I kinda made the assumption that somewhere along the line the wire which should connect the inner ring and outer ring (to ground out to earth), had gone awol - so I just made my own up, fitted it all back together, and it works like a charm
