Re: in car dvd player!? :(

Make an enclosure in the boot to put one, probably the only thing that will fit in there

Re: in car dvd player!? :(

i'm gonna be fitting a screen in my car, but it will be where the dash/shelf is. however, i am going to fabricate a glove box to fit there also so this will hide the screen. open it up and there it is. then underneithe the dash/shelf, there is like a holder for a manual. thats going to hold a slimline ps2

lol, funny you should say that, i have an old xbox with a 120gb drive

i just wanted something for easy access and less space consuming.

the old xbox is nearly that big you would need its own trailer for the size of te cinq, lol.

spose it could go under t he passenger seat..... mmm...

Do you need to run an inverter or is there a *cough* 12v conversion available *cough*?

Re: in car dvd player!? :(

well you could do a 12v conversion is suppose as it runs on 12v & 5v (its just a modded PC psu)however an invertors a fairly simple option

Re: in car dvd player!? :(

It's just that my audio already draws quite a lot of current. The headlights dimming when it's cranked suggest that I'm probably a little close to the capability of the alternator already.
Wouldn't an inverter need a lot of power to turn 12v DC into 240v and then the Xbox turns it back into 12v and 5v, I was thinking about using it for tunes whilst driving about as much as watching a DVD on because 200gb is a lot of cd quality music!

Re: in car dvd player!? :(

how are you going to control the xbox?im not keen on the idea of someone navigating a screen while driving for audio.at least not on an OS not designed to be used on the move.
you would be better overhauling the charging system now before you add any more

Re: in car dvd player!? :(

So, is there a higher output alternator available out there that fits a sporting as a direct replacement for the original?
I agree about the navigation on the box when you're on the move,
Was thinking of the remote with the infra red receiver remote mounted in the front somewhere on an extension cable, screen in the sunvisor maybe.
Can the xbox dash be modded to simplify the interface? Also can the 'box be modded so that the clock doesn't have to be set when it's plugged back in after be unplugged?

Re: in car dvd player!? :(

xbox modding questions are getting off topic for the OP given my interest
alternators i dont know if theres a direct drop in one but shouldnt be too hard to modifiy one i suppose.
best starting a new thread in cento
