Re: Fading FIAT Badges

Neither am i, it's more a style thing than an embarisment thing, what car is it on? i remorved mine from my punto as the bottom of the bonnet looks so nice when it's empty of badges.

if i was emmbaressed i wouldn't wear my fiat wrist band everyday...
is that sad btw... bird @ work thinks it's weird... she doesn't have a car..

Re: Fading FIAT Badges

but if you did want to replace try eBay, they do all badges, sometimes from dealers themselves. i think a bloke on here sells multi coloured ones...

Re: Fading FIAT Badges

I would only bother debadging engine ratings if I had a GT or an HGT. As I don't, I'm happy to leave it alone.

The state of fade:

Cinq Sporting, fading.
Marea: fading.
Spyder: 32 years old and not faded at all.
Panda (new): fine.

Re: Fading FIAT Badges

The blue dye on the 4-segment FIAT badge always bleaches in the sun, as do the older model badges that weren't just chrome (e.g. Bravo/a, Marea, Punto mk1 etc).

One option would be to upgrade to the centenary logo (as done on my Stilo 3dr). If this isn't possible (as it isn't on our 5dr Stilo due to the tailgate's contour line), I ordered a new FIAT 4-segment badge for the Stilo (which has glossy blue plastic) and lightly lacquered it, gave it a week or so to cure, then coated it in a paint protector (e.g. Diamondbrite, Supaguard, AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection); 2 years down the line and it still looks new.

On my sister's Punto, which uses the old pitted blue with chrome effect top, I spray the badges with some engine detailing resin (have a spare can) then use a hairdrier to heat-seal it on; you can't see it, but it's been going for a year and looks like new still.

Some ideas there for you!

Re: Fading FIAT Badges

Another trip to the parts counter for me then?

My crome 'Tipo' badge looks fine but the /F/I/A/T/ Badge has lost all it's crome and the blue has faded as suggested it would.

Re: Fading FIAT Badges

I found that on late model mk1 punto elx's, the FIAT badge was shiney dark blue rather than pithole nasty looking porous job's.
didn't get it though as someone had hit the back end with another car and it had lost the chrome

new badges, some back to black stuff (liquid rather than spray) and some good time spent cleaning and polishing makes a car look so much better!! took me three hours the other day, but its never ever looked so good!!**

**apart from that time before some prick dented it, and then some other prick keyed it
