T-cutting. Best way to restore original colour?

I've got an 02 broom yellow punto. I recently had the front and rear bumpers aswell as the left rear wing replaced and/or resprayed (with the original paint code). It doesn't match perfectly, however. Would t-cutting help blend it all in? Is t-cut the best thing to use, & am I better off using coloured or original?

cheers.

take it back where it was done, and demand a respray. you should not need to do anything regarding T CUT and polish. sure it was broom yellow? they do a few yellows that are very similar but slightly different.

Re: T-cutting. Best way to restore original colour?

Well, it's difficult to take it back, as it was resprayed because it mismatched but the respray was a surprise present from my mum; If I take it back i'll look ungrateful.

The front bumper was resprayed a couple of months back, and didn't match.

I just got both bumpers done again, rear matches almost perfectly (can only tell a slight slight difference in perfect natural light and nobody else would ever notice, I'm just finicky) - front matches poorly on one side (left), and averagely on another. Maybe the left wing was resprayed at some point before I got the car. Perhaps I just notice these things because it mismatched so badly before, and I'm really conscious of it?

I'll try to post up some pics tomorrow afternoon (After I've put my new alloys on) and see what you guys think.

Re: T-cutting. Best way to restore original colour?

if a relative bought me a TV say and it was not working right,i would take it back. same here, my mum would insist i took it back. why didn't you complain at the bodyshop? they work under a code of condult. if its a mismatch and the bodyshop is any good, they would never of let it out like that. these places work on reputation. do the right thing and get the car looking as it should. as it stands. that car is worth a lot less then it should. its possibly unsellable as well.

I've already been told that I'm ungrateful and "not to complain about it any more because it's the best you're getting". As you can see, I don't want to aggravate the situation with her any more.

but its your car, you want it to look as good as possible. your not ungrateful, and your mam shouldnt be saying that.

have you tried a polishing compound, as that should work better than t-cut.

Re: T-cutting. Best way to restore original colour?

Hey chris, I'll try that, want a really fine one though - not one that takes massive care to apply, don't want to see metal. Got any recommendations anyone?

You've got to understand that this woman has issues, and will 99% kick me out if I take it back and complain.

explain to her that the car is worth at least £600 less then it should. show hher these posts to confirm you are not winding her up.
if you want fine compound, use farcella G6. then use a good polish.

remember, once you mess with it,the bodyshop has a right to reject your requests for a respray.

Re: T-cutting. Best way to restore original colour?

fortunately (perhaps) i discovered a small crack in paint (seems as if it's from where they screwed it on and the paint cracked as it tightened) on the left hand side, on the bumper. This is good, because it means that I'm taking it back tomorrow, they'll have to respray, and I can say "well make sure that you get the colour right this time or it'll be coming back again"

She seems ok with me taking it back for the crack, too.

get the lot done and be happy. parents are fine if you use kid gloves and explain things very carefully and tactfully
