I have to run in a gear down to keep revs up. eg 4th gear instead of 5th. the car has oil in so its not that. realy don't know any sugestions

got a problem with my car

You haven't mentioned any warning lights appearing on your dashboard, so presumably there's no sensor at fault. On the face of it from what you describe, it sounds like an air/fuel problem.

If the car seems sluggish getting to speed (and if you get excess smoke .. though you may not see the smoke unless you look in your rear view mirror at night..) that might point towards a dirty/gummed up EGR valve. An EGR (exhaust gas recycler) recycles part of the exhaust gases and can become 'gummy' with oil and carbon.

Other things which may fit the symptoms you describe include a dirty/failing MAF or MAP. I'm not sure if your car has a MAP?

It becomes all too easy to replace one part after another when trying to rectify a fault. The best advice I can offer is to go and get a second opinion - maybe an independent workshop - who can listen to the engine.

thanks I will be getting car in to garage soon for mot so will ask them to check it. and will be adding a new air filter myself this month. hopefully custom exshorst too
