Hi guys!

Back again. Was out the other day and since I've had the car it's been raining almost everyday so haven't seen the car in direct sunlight, so basically I've found very light swirl marks on the roof and bonnet. Does anyone have any recommendations? Wouldn't trust myself with a polisher so id only be doing it by hand.. Thanks in advance

Auto Glymn SRP (Super resin polish) is a filler polish, to help reduce the swirl marks but wont get rid of them

You need a fine abrasive polish to help get rid of the swirl marks, i'd found using a machine polish pad by hand also does help :)

Cheers Ziggy ill try that. I don't feel confident enough yet to use a machine polisher.

Hi,
If you try polish first and see how that affects the swirls but then if they are still there then try compounding. Compound is a fine abrasive but more abrasive than polish. You have two choices, rubbing compound which is the most abrasive or polishing compound which is less abrasive. Normally I use rubbing followed by polishing compound but if you only have small swirls then I would try polishing compound first, if that's a no go then rubbing compound will do it. I would only compound by hand because using electric polishers can be dodgy unless you know what you are doing.

That's great will definetly give the polishing compound a go. The cars grey and its only in sunlight they are seen. Otherwise the body is immaculate so it was a bit of a let down when I noticed them :(

What would autoglym paint renovator be? Polishing compound?

Not quite sure what, it might be a compound not 100%. Nowadays most leading brands have these fancy one step system which means it's a rubbing and polishing compound in one which is gold. Farecla G3 is good, meguairs ultimate compound. They are both one step systems that are a mix of rubbing and polishing compound. You can buy two step so rubbing and polishing compounds that are seperate it's just preference. I use the 3m two step system which isn't cheap but is good. I'd opt for the one step system and give it at go, never used them personally but they will be good. I'm not sure about the autoglym paint renovator, personally I'd go with meguairs ultimate compound as that has ridiculously good reviews.

Thanks mate, sorry for all the questions :)

Don't worry about it:) there's only one way to find out and that's ask others:)

Update: used farecla g3 paint renovator today it definetly refreshed the paint but there are still swirl marks so I don't know if maybe I should go over it again? What do you think?

Yeah with compound sometimes you will have to go over it a couple of times. Would you put a picture up of which compound you bought because I'm not sure which One it is.

Tried to get meguairs like you said but halfords had none. That's good to hear about the marks so there's danger in using it again? Is there any use in following up with srp then wax?

Ahhh right. That's the wrong one unfortunately so that is used to re-brighten cars paintwork and bring the life back into it, but isn't effective for scratches. You need this stuff if you are going for G3. ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1427128919.197575.jpg
To be honest though I don't see a lot of it when I go into halfords it must be really popular. That's the one you need and there's no danger in using it by hand 2 or 3 times. To be honest U could probably use it 10x by hand on the same area and nothing would happen but the scratches should come out using it a couple of times on the area. Then go over with srp or another polish after scratch is removed. Also wax won't get scratches out in any way, wax isn't abrasive so doesn't deal with scratches it just adds a protective layer to cars and makes them super shiny.
