Hi all

Can anyone advise on any good auto re-upholsterers in the South?

I've just picked up my new car (MX-5) and the only imperfection are the seats. I'm not keen on the plain black fabric and drivers seat is slightly worn/faded.

I've been to a company called KLF Automotive on the A303 and they had some brilliant examples. I'm just expecting a hefty quote.

It's only the two seats.

Prepared to spend up to £500.

Are covers a good idea? There are quite a few online but no reviews of them.

Thanks

Wouldnt it be cheaper/ better to buy some better condition mx5 seats/ seats out of another car or some nice looking bucket seats

Thanks for the pointer. I've found some of the same seats but in leather but with heated functionality (subject to being wired up). The guy selling them is going to fit them for me on Saturday. Fingers crossed they fit without issue.

Just in case the above doesn't work out, VmanC (who probably isn't online much, at the moment, I'm afraid...) uses an upholsterer -- who's just rebuilt the seats in my 750L -- when he's renovating classic Pandas. You could try PM'ing him -- or simply wait for him to notice the mention. He's based in Hampshire.

Thanks Homeward, things are starting to settle down a little here so I can start to get back to normal now. (y)

Future reference for anyone, I use Hampshire trimmers in Southampton. I've been taking my stuff to him for a couple of years now and Mark does a good job for a fair price.
