Hi all

Anyone got any recommendations for dash / plastic cleaner? For my Grande Punto. I want to try to get it back to looking new / glossy again. It looks a bit matt and fed up to be honest.

I know there are some Waxybox members on here, any products from this that have blown you away or been impressed with?

Curious to hear your thoughts.

Cheers

Jon

Aren't dashboards meant to be a matt finish but people ruin them by making them shiny with silicon dash cleaner sprays, I always just use a bucket of warm water with a dash of Fairy in it, just wipe it over with a cloth and use a soft brush for ingrained dirt, then dry it with a nice clean cotton cloth, usually a tea towel and get shouted at for it!! Shiny seems like a good idea... until you see how cheap-looking it will be, and how it attracts the dust. Also, blasted by the sun's powerful rays, the shine-juices evaporate off inside the windscreen, making a foggy mess that's difficult to remove.

Then there's the reflection in the windscreen (quite a problem, thanks to the Grande Punto's proportions with the windscreen well forward of the driver) and so basically, you want it matt. Clean, but matt.

The same applies for leather seats - shiny leather went out with the M5 in the early 90s. If you look in, say, an Aston Martin today, you don't think "wow, look how shiny the seats are". ;) Most leather seats are matt when new and get shiny with age. Mothers Leather Cleaner makes them matt again. Works well on plastic too, for the record, probably because most leathers are plastic coated!
