I and a few other use white spirit on a cloth to get rid of tar spots, it's much cheaper than tar spot remover and works just as well.

For best results polish afterwards.

It's just marks left from bits of tar hitting your car really. Look black and nasty - especially on a light coloured car.

Get one of the cheap autogleam minitures packs with a bottle in it. Last for ever too. Works on loads of things, like the horrible streaks you get under wing mirrors that take ages to come off with a sponge... ;)

i get them all over my car, really annoying, under door handles, mirrors, rear wiper, rear number plate, side strips, rear badges and it takes ages to get rid of what ever iv tried- polish/wax, t-cut, car wash- so il give that stuff you said a go (y)
