Hello

My rear door and half of the quarter panel looks like its had some sort of paint job and is a bit hazey/dull. It doesn't have that deep shine like the rest of the car has.

I intend to polish/wax the car soon anyway with either Autoglym SRP or UDS. Would could I do to improve the look of it?

It doesn't look too bad in the pic but it is noticeable......well by me anyway!

Thanks

I would say the difference in the picture is pretty obvious and i can see clear orange-peel finish as well (colour difference too?)

in any case there are limits to the wonders of Autoglym and I think the paint really needs flatting and re lacquering.

Thanks for your reply.

Would rubbing compound not help things? I only ask as i've got a tube of it in my shed!

Just a quick question....can you use autoglym SRP and then apply UDS? Reason i ask is that SRP will get rid of and mask light scratches and swirls then the UDS to protect and give a deep shine.

Both autoglym super resin polish and Ultra deep shine are polishes, UDS only differs in that it is formulated for darker paint colours. UDS will also fill in minor scratches and swirls so no need to bother with both.

Polishes and other such products are only as good as the paint finish and with a poor finish like yours you will struggle to get a satisfactory result. These polishes won't fill in orange peel. Rubbing compound on a machine polisher might be enough to get rid of the hazy dullness but you'll still have a poor orange peel finish with a colour mismatch which to you will stand out like a sore thumb, you could pour good money after bad into improving things but the only real way to sort it would be a trip to the body shop
