How are you going to beat the hosepipe ban?

We came off water restrictions about 6 months ago, after being on them for roughly 5 years. We got by thanks to a few methods. Put a bucket under the shower head in the morning while you wait for it to heat up, chuck that on the garden. We also have a bore pump, no restrictions on that so we just let the bugger run 23/7 :D
Also, if you can re-route your washing machine outlet so that it runs outside, or into a bucket, thats a fair bit of water you can use on your garden.

Anglian Water have posted about the ban in our local rag telling people what they can't use. Covers all the PE post codes in our region.

I can remember using one of those brushes to wash my dads old car, worked exceedingly well.

Wasn't bothered about the effect of brushes on it, it was a very smooth one though.

tbh, brushes on cars don't bother me. I've lived through the anally retentive stage of lovingly tending my paintwork on a regular basis. Agonising over the tramlines some little darling put along my roof (and it was metallic, back in the day when it took forever to fix), not to mention the many scratches and dings you acquire in car parks (why is it that even when you park a mile away from the entrance in THE most deserted part of the car park, some twot ALWAYS has to park tight up to your door or in such a way that the only way you are ever going to get in is by climbing through the boot?).
I've had muppets prang me & ding me. AFAIC, a car is a tin box on 4 wheels (literally in the case of the doblo!) designed to get me from A to B as cheaply as possible.
Yes, it's nice if the car looks good but these days it's nigh on impossible. I count at least a dozen scratches (3" - 4" long) that have been done by person or persons unknown & I no longer lose sleep over it.
When those magic scratch pens actually work, I might just be tempted to sort the scratches but at the moment I just CBA

Further to my above post, #2 son invested in one of those magic pens - reckoned it was worth splashing out £2 & lost nothing if it didn't work.
Amazingly, it sort of worked.
My silver car - forget it.
OH's white car - sort of - it makes them less obvious
His black car - hmmm, sort of, only just.
His GF's Red car - amazing, it was exactly like the ads they show. It really did a good job, although if you inspect it, you can still see the scratch, but for the money it's a quick tidy up.
#1 son's blue car - again, a tidy job. wouldn't stand close inspection but gives a good impression to the passing eye.

Haha it was on the Sunday mate. :)

You?
