I know this is probably a topic for the Car Care forum, but as I really just wanted advice from 500 owners, I think its better suited here.

I'm picking up my 500 in just over a week, and after taking it out for a good ol' spin, I want to give it a thorough clean before embarking on the 150-odd mile journey home.

Ive been looking into some suitable cleaning products over the last few weeks, and I think I've got some decent shampoo, mitt, clay, cloths, wax, etc, but i've been reading that prior to the waxing stage, I should polish first? I have no idea which (hand applied) polish would be appropriate

So folks, what do you recommend as a cleaning regime for the 500, and which products work best?

As this has been moved, maybe I should give some background to this.

The last time I washed a car by hand was about 5 years and 3 cars ago. Since then, its been jet wash or ARC/IMO (*gasp*).

By AG SRP, I assume you mean Autoglym Super Resin Polish?

Im quite new to the 'proper' way to clean your car, so any help and advice would be appreciated. Also, I have no access to a hose or pressure washer.

I've been having to use drive-through car washes lately. Tonight, not previously having any problems, the car wash ripped the tip off my aerial.
I'll be getting back to hand washing.

As in one of these?

No problems? Take a good look at your paintwork it will be screwed to buggery with loads of scratch marks in it.
