Claying a car

My roof of my car is deeply imbedded with tree sap
It needs to be clayed really

The question is
Do you just use clay, or do you need a lube as well?

As if so what a special way to use clay?

And what clay should i use?

At first i was gonna get this, but now im not sure

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Ziggy

Personally i use Bilt Hamber clay! You get a huge amount of clay (200g) for around £10, and you can use water for lube so it ends it being quite inexpensive

Re: Claying a car

Ah
Brilliant
Rub in hands
Spray on lube
Enjoy! I mean
Rub around till its not making a gritty noise

If dirty just rework it till its all clean

After Claying
Rub in my SRP
And the apply a sealent!
Heypresto! My car will be clean!

Re: Claying a car

Use a quick detailer it will keep the clay lubed alot better than just water will.

Wash the car, spray QD on a small area and clay that area. When the clay gets alot of crap on it rework it so its "clean" Always keep the clay well lubed, if it starts to catch on the paint then you havent got enough lube on it. Once the whole car is done wash it again. Dry it with a microfibre then SRP it and then a sealant/carnuba wax.

Re: Claying a car

I use the meg's quick caly kit and it's fine for removing tar / paint spots and general crap.

Doubt i'd want anything more and the spary smells soooo nice!

Just a quick question
Will SRP mask or actually remove swirls?

Re: Claying a car

Bit of both. Its the best stuff out there imo when your not using a porter cable or similar to correct the paintwork.

i am right in sayings its one that requires several going overs over a period of time?

Since i dont have a buffer or anything to use so i could machine remove them SRP is my best bet yes to slow lift the swirls?

Re: Claying a car

I was umming and arrrring about buying a clay kit, anyway bought one this morning and gave it a go, it really is amazing what it does, didn't think my paint was that bad but its amazing how much rubbish it picks up and it feels really really smooth now!!!

Really really worth it!!
