Re: Finally Plucked Up The Courage......

After I had checked the clercoat thickness I used some 2500 grit wet & dry, followed by 3000 grit, wetting all the time using a mixture of Megs Shampoo Plus & water to aid lubricity.

Then a session with the Cylco in the normal manner & all of the RDS had gone.

Re: Finally Plucked Up The Courage......

you can safely go as coarse as 1500 grit on lacquer.
I finish lacquer after I've sprayed it with a 1500 dry orbital sander. I follow with a 2000wet and dry and then compound with a buffer. the shine left is
sometimes I use a 3000 as well before buffing though.

Dont try this at home, if you dont know what you are doing though.

I am currently experimenting to see if its possible to use a 400 dry grit on lacquer and be able to give the lacquer a shine by then using 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 wet n dry finishing with a buffer.
