Re: which order and how often

1st - Super Rein Polish
2nd - Extra Gloss Protection

Use the Turtle Wax Ice as a top up once a month and then you can limit using the Autoglym which is harder work to just once every 4 months.

Try a clay bar if you haven't already, it'll remove alot of the roughness from the paintwork and make it nice a smooth.

Re: which order and how often

If you wax the car regulary you should'nt have to use a claybar more than once or twice a year.

You can split most claybars in two, each piece can be used until it appears dirty after remoulding in your hands, usually around five times. Even once it's no good for paintwork the clay can be used for glass and works well with alloy wheels also.

Re: which order and how often

If I'm honest I'm not a huge fan of Autoglym's exterior products, interior yes, they have some excellent stuff.

It depends on your budget, but for a good all round wax product I'd go for R222 Concours Wax (around £20) or Collinite (around £14.95).

Re: which order and how often

Well for paint pre wax cleaning try Dodo Juice Lime Prime or Lime Prime Lite.

For a wax (as opposed to a polish) try one of the Dodo Juice waxes.

So why throw perfectly good products in the bin to buy something that does the same job although not better and maybe worse in my opinion.

Dodo Juice Lime Prime is pretty similar to Super Resin Polish which is a great product.

Dodo Juice Wax being a last stage product and will give is pretty similar results to EGP but doesn't last as long. If you want a wax buy Autoglym High Definition Wax

Take a look on www.detailingworld.co.uk , I'm sure you will find otherwise.

Dodo juice Lime Prime is for cleaning & removing old wax & correcting minor swirls, it has no wax content at all.

The Dodo Juice waxes are high carnuba content, give a much better depth of shine & are 100% non abrasive (more than can be said for AG SRP).

I used to swear by AG products, and like you would defend them, until I tried a really good product.

Re: which order and how often

Oh no!!! don't tell me AutoGlym stuff is crap, i've spent loads on all of their products, and I mean loads ( I have the entire range ), just bought some Zymol wash & it is better than the AutoGlym stuff - is there anything better than the Zymol?

Can one of you pro's post a 'recommended by' list for our normal cars?! (they aren't Lamborghini's so the Zymol Royale Glaze is out of the question)

I use:

Zymol shampoo
Poorboys White Diamond
AutoGlym Super Resin (or Aqua Wax if i'm feeling lazy...)

What can I improve on? - bought some Poorboys Natty stuff to use instead of the AutoGlym (ordered it before recommendation of the R222 or Collinite)

Re: which order and how often

I stick with Dodo Juice where possible, my pot of Blue Velvet has done 5 waxes now & it's still about 90% full, you use sucjh a small amount

Take a look here for some decent products.

Cheers for the link, been on Detailingworld since the early days. Been using AG SRP for 15 years and it's changed over the year. I've also shed loads of stuff from other brands, Megs, P21s, Sonus to name a few. I'm sure if you read through Detailingworld you'll find that SRP is very highly regarded there and few people would recommend you chuck it away; likewise EGP . Ask Dave KG if he thinks Autoglym is rubbish and should be chucked in the bin, he's got just about every wax/product going - http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=64307

I've haven't tried DODO juice, sure they sell good waxes and paint cleaner cleaners but there is nothing wrong with Autoglym; I try not to advise people chuck perfectly good stuff in the bin, spend more money and at the end of the day find it looks the same.

Ultimately it's down to the individual; I'm rather hardened against the latest must buys that is purveyed on Detailingworld

There are so many options there is no easy answer to providing a recommended list for "normal" cars

Mark Elvin obviously loves his DODO Juice. I think Autoglym is perfectly fine.

Personally I think you won't go wrong with the following and you can easily buy them in the high street.

Wash - any will do, I used Turtle Wax - Wash and Wax for years after buying 5l of the stuff.
Clay - to remove bonded particles - Meguiars do a clay you can buy at car shops
Polish - Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Protect - Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection or Autoglym High Definition Wax.

Buy some Microfribre cleaning cloths from the supermarket and a cellulose sponge and away you go.

If you want to remove paintwork to get rid of swirls you'll need a more aggresive polish and electric polisher.
