| Any ideas? Scrapped the ice of the car this morning and must have had some grit on the screen/blade, now got 2 nice scratches across the drivers side of the windscreen

| Re: Removing scratches from windscreen What's with the heated washer system. Where are they available from? These really should be standard fit to all UK spec. cars. We are in April and my windscreen was frozen solid this morning.

You can get heated jets or systems that heater the water as it leaves the bottle. Definitely handy to have in the winter.

| Re: Removing scratches from windscreen To get heated washer jets, just find out what cars have them fitted, visit that marques local dealer and buy a pair. you might find ones that slip straight in, but you'll probably need a wee bit of bonnet surgery. I often toy with the idea of getting a pair and just wiring them into an ignition live, assuming that i don't overload a circuit in the process

| Re: Removing scratches from windscreen heated washer jets are ok but the rest of the pipework needs plenty of lagging to prevent water from freezing in the pipe the jets can be glowing red but if the water cant reach the jets they are going to do sod all.. Apparently Ford haven't paid to update the patent on the Quick Clear windscreen so fingers crossed Fiat will be able to pick it up in a couple of years. ![]() as for wiring them up logic would say wire them in with the heated rear screen.... As for the OP's Q Try your car insurance normally £60 excess on damaged glass

| Re: Removing scratches from windscreen I've started using (cold) tap water as de-icer. Works very well. RE the heated jets - 'usually' it's just the jets that freeze due to windchill. If you're using proper screenwash then the fluid should be OK down to really really cold adn heated jets would suffice. I do know one guy that altered the routing of his scooshy pipes to run them over the top of teh engine bay. By the time he was finished, his pipes held more screenwash than the screenwash reservoir did.
