Clear engine lacquer?

i'm looking for a high temp clear lacquer so once clean my engine will stay clean/protected.

the only thing i have found is autoglym engine lacquer, is this any good?

are there any alternatives?

many different brands of engine lacquer are available. it looks great for the first 2 months, then you have peeling cracking brown crap all over the place that you cant get off. nice!

Doesnt WD40 rot some plastics/rubber or is that something my dad has made up?

the rubber an plastic under the bonnet should be resistant to it.
think your dad means dont use it as a lube

Spray WD40 leave for 30 mins and wipe.

true, but wont prevent corrosion or protect electricals, I do sometimes use it along side wd40 on the plastic covers etc.
