SuperGuard ?

hi guys

Went to do the final payment on my new 1.4 starjet sporting (which should be here on the 12th of april)

Any way the sales man said do i want the car to be superguard before i got it

Apparently this is a service that fiat do which means you dont have to polish it for 3 years and waterproof's the seats so if your mate drops his choc bar the the seat it wipes off.

I cant remeber how much it was but it was over £200 i think

Does any one know any thing about this any comment would be great

its a worthless option i got conned 2yrs ago when i got my gp-jet.forget it and if its not professionally even if is sorry it leaves a brand new showroom car in ulta fine swirl marks avoid at all costs.get your windows tinted darker instead of the supagaurd.i was quoted £379 for the corsa vxr to be supergaurded inside and out + mats what a conAvoid at all costs

hey i am a valeter for nissan and i will agree you are bein conned cause they cost less than 50 quid at trade price, the treatment doesn't mean you dont have to polish your car for three years it protects your paint from bird poo, tree sap and sunlight fade and if it is done properly you should get a warrenty that if any of these things damage the paint then in theory you can claim for the repairs. Personally i have no proof of how good these are but i dont know of anyone that has had damage after havin this treatment !!!

now onto the interior, this treatment is well worth the money, i have treated my car to this and has saved the seats bein ruined several times. it is similar to a scotch guard treatment and basically creates a barrier that it seems not a lot can penetrate. you can pour liquid on and it will just pool untill you mop it up, or if you get chocolate or somethin it just brushes out. this treatment is put on the carpets as well so keeps them in relatively good nick.

it is up to you at the end of the day, it is a lot of money but may be worth it if you have kids or see your self spillin drinks food etc, if not then just look after your car lol

As soon as you polish your car you rub off the superguard.....

as i have said in the past the interior treatment is well worth it but the exterior is cr@p I have an 06 punto and a Ford KA before that and both stealers were pressing the super sealant products and didnt bother and have never had a problem...

for £20 you can get a tin of Collinite wax and this will last ages (a coat every 9 months or so) (said to last a year)

you can get the kits on fleabay for about £20....

And if a new car fades due to sunlight there is something wrong with the paint.... unlike the old red single stage paints,,,

no you dont polish it off as you apply the paint sealant and should be lrft for an hour for the chemicals to ' bake ', which gives the protective layer the only way you would polish it off if you used a very abrasive polish, and if you use this on a new car your crazy, but i agree it is a waste of money on todays cars where the paint is usually pretty tough like i said above interior supagard is awesome

So your saying the Coating is harder than the paint

a good polish with Super resin polish will remove the coating surely if its enough to rub out minor swirls it has enough Cut to remove any chemical coatings...

As for new cars paint been tough its nothing like the old 2 pack paint especially the modern clear coats which marrs and swirls and chips like there is no tomorrow in comparison to a lot of older cars IMO

too be honest for £200 your better off paying for a full correction detail to remove any dealer inflicted marks and they will give you two coats of a wax that will last 6 months- 1 year.

Much better shine for the same money IMO.

I've got to be honest, I don't think it's worth the money at all. It was applied to my Brava when it was new and from what I can see never did anything at all.

Didn't help with interior marking and getting rid of the marks and the paint on the front bumper started to peel.

Took it to the dealer as it was still under warranty and they didn't want to know, tried to arrange the people at superguard to come out and look at it but again they just weren't interested.

Useless product, avoid.

At £200+ it is not worth the money. That is not to say the supagard treatment is not any good because it is good but the price that is charged is too high. A very high profile margin for the salesman.

I bought a Supaguard kit off ebay for about £5 a couple of years ago and applied it to a red car which had faded (polished first) It still looks great after 3 years and has not faded again. So I think supagard is a good product but sold badly.

As for the interior treatment I bought scotchguard again for about £5 from Robert Dyas and sprayed all over my seats, after 2 years it's still beading water and comes up like new when vaccummed.
