Engine Detailing

Hi everyone, i'm wanting to fully detail the engine area of my Stilo and was wondering if anyone has any tips or hints about the overall job and also is there any parts i should be keeping water and degreasers away from or cover them up???

Cheers for any help!
Craig

Re: Engine Detailing

i tend to avoid high pressure jets just use a running hose pipe,

a water soluble degreaser i use muckoff mountain bike cleaner its safe on alloy and plastics and strong enough to do the job..

i usually dampen the engine bay with water then spray the muck off on,

agitate with a soft brush leave for a couple of minutes then wash off.

after washing it away spray the engine bay with Autoglym vinyl and rubber care and run the car for half an hour and let the warmth from the engine dry it out.

Re: Engine Detailing

On the few occassions I've used concentrated detergent solution in a cheap sprayer bottle from Wilkinson, a brush to agitate and then a watering can to wash down. To be frank though I'd avoid washing the engine bay too much.
