| All Hail the Woodsman | Re: wash mitts You can get sponges which are more like the wash mitts. Microfibre would be no better than a normal sponge. Anyway, these wash mitts have a greater surface area and more nooks and crannies to harbour dirt and grit which cause scratches. My car isn't "scratched" although it has a few light swirls from 3 years use and washing. I can live with light swirls and stuff like SRP and Autobalm do a good job of hidding them, not into machining my paint down to try and get the perfect finish, garage queen fine but everyday car what's the point?

| Ray Von | Re: wash mitts
Microfibre holds dirt rather than rubbing it into your paint, and is not as abrasive as a sponge, and doesn't leave bits on your car. Hence their use in the first place.

| Burninator of threads! | Re: wash mitts wool is the way forward. to keep your hands warm when washing the car in subzero 40mph winter winds that we are exposed to 4months of the year wool doesn't get dirt attached to the fibres, althogh dirt does get lodged between em. microfibe does get dirt attached to the fibres, and also dirt gets lodged between em. best way of washing your car is to NOT touch it! but thats impossible, unless you washed every mud/dirt/tar/contam stain off whilst it was happening I also don't bother maching down my paint, fill the marks with filler cream stuff, then synthetic protection over teh top of it, doesn't make it 'gleam' like natural wax products do, but at least 6months later it still beads water and dirt pretty good, wheras natural products last about a week atbest
