I pick my black GPS up on friday, my current car is black and after 5 years of ownership it look a bit sad. I turned down the £300 paint protection at motorpoint (cos I dont want sales men having my hard earned cash). Anyway, i am basically asking the same question except does anyone know of anywhere that does paint protection treatment for a decent price, or if not what is the best way to prolong my paintwork shine.

-Get a lambs wool wash mitt rather than a sponge to help prevent swirl marks. -Wash sideways rather than in circles -Use sealant/wax/gloss regularly to protect the paint -Use microfibre cloths to dry I often use 'poorboys' products, not the cheapest in the world but extremely good. check here www.detailedobsession.co.uk

The pack had the fabric protector as well. Use good shampoo, polymer waxes and quality clothes and you won't go far wrong.
