Thumbs up T-cut and other abrasives,

After startng the daunting task of T-cutting all of the panels on my car, which I don't think could ever have been waxed.. and being red and 11 years old the u.v had faded the surface to a dusty powder pink.

-roof

I started using some standard T-cut /AutoGlym Paint restorer (much coarser), and alot of elbow grease, eventually the red was comming back through and the surface getting smooth enough to polish..

Finally after running out of T-cut, I thought I would try just a cheap cream cleaner (63p/500ml t3sco), after all it felt the same coarsity as the AutoGlym Paint restorer..
I was very impressed, the surface came out very very smooth, and being thicker it didn't drip off the cloth and it stayed where you put it..

..What I would recommend and what I will do next time is use a water spray bottle to add some water to help lubricate the surface slightly, and get an even finer finished before polishing..

-After polishing and a coating of turtlewax platinum precision waiting to be buffed off.

-front wing

-final finish

The roof is the last section to do, I'm hoping I can find the energy to get a good result on that a take a photo of the surface finish.

thanks for looking,
stefz

Re: T-cut and other abrasives,

If you use red Cut restorer do you have to wax the car again afterward with a wax polish?

Yeah but Dave G3 is very strong. Noobs should always be weary of using the strong stuff.

Re: T-cut and other abrasives,

You'd have to have a Porter cable to use the farecla, using it by hand isn't going to do much.

Re: T-cut and other abrasives,

You use cutting compound nearly every day your paint must be thinner than nicole richie

If it's okay to use by hand, perhaps I'll get me some Farecla...
